The turkey's name is Zelda and she's been in and around Battery Park for almost 10 years. Zelda is undoubtedly one tough bird because she survived Hurricane Sandy that flooded and devastated much of lower Manhattan on October 29, 2012.

According to Wikipedia: The turkey was named after "Zelda Fitzgerald (the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald), because (according to legend) during one of Zelda Fitzgerald's nervous breakdowns, she went missing and was found in Battery Park."
