Austin, Texas May 2007: The Music
The Music:
It started with Steve, but in Austin, the Live Music Capitol of the US, there is no shortages of gigs and venues to stumble unto musicians.
First, it was a surprise brunch at Opal Divine's for 1/2 of the Popstar's weekly performance, and I took in all that Matt the Electrician and Michael Fracasso had to give me...
Later that night, we caught The Resentments at the Saxon Pub and where I discovered my future husband, Bruce Hughes.
On my last night there, we saw Matt the Electrician play his last Monday opening for Bob Schneider, and then stayed for a couple of Bob's songs before attempting to see David Garza, who was actually out with some throat node stuff for the entire month. Matt's so cute. True Story.
Then there are just great venues like the Continental Club and Antone's that deserve documenting:
So much music...so little time.

Austin, Texas: May 2007: The Guitars
Gibson has sponsored this incredible exhibit all throughout downtown Austin called "Guitartown" and much like I got addicted to the Cow Parade in Boston, I just couldn't get enough of these guitars. Many of which are designed, painted and/or autographed by very famous people. I tried to take as many pictures of both sides and the autographs of the ones I found.
This one is Quentin Tarantino and Robert Roridguez's contribution.
Check out the rest that I saw!

Austin, Texas: The Art, May 2007
I fell in love with this massive fountain on the UT campus:
Then there was the museums where I saw amazing things from the 1920's, the Gutenburg Bible and even a signed copy of the 19th amendment.
These glitter paintings were incredible, and strangely, in Starbucks:
Yay Art Glass:
I'm currently really taken by sculptures:
But my love for murals hasn't subsided:
And there were some incredible store fronts as well:
But graffiti and stencils are still my favorite:
