Stencils in the Mission, May 2007
I assume a response to this series, of which I only captured one...
Worship the Roman Goddess of Love & Beauty!
Wanna Know what a Fixie is?
I'm not really sure what it says, but it needed to be in the collection.
In other news...I am thinking that I am going to create my own stencil project. I have become pretty obsessed with them, and have been doing lots of research on Banksy and the movement on the other side of the Atlantic, and joining other Flickr obsessed in community groups. I welcome suggestions on fun phrases, puns, artworks, political themes etc. Here are some hardcore pics I didn't take for ideas. I may also ask for some bold individuals to go on a mission to vandalize the mission with me. Of course, after we establish a plan, it will be a top secret mission, as well, it's illegal and property damage, but frankly, you can't walk 5 feet in the mission without finding one and I really really want to do this. I can't even tell you how bad.
A Day in the Park, May 2007
I had the best day with my girl in the park:
We practiced poi after a yummy breakfast on Irving:
And I played portrait photographer. She's a great subject!
(Deal with it, you're beautiful dammit and these are great pictures!)
I now have a knack for stumbling onto playa art:
It looks like they gave him a paint job and closed up the back of his head:
We told him secrets:
Then we found funny art:
And went to the Japanese Tea Garden:
And the Rose Garden too:
It was a perfect day in the city! Thanks chica!
See the whole set here!

Video: Willie Nelson, The Catalyst, Santa Cruz, May 2007
Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys (2:07)

Willie Nelson, The Catalyst, Santa Cruz May 2007
I am not someone who considers herself easily star struck, yet last night, as this man stood steps from me, I shivered as tears rolled down my face. I screamed into the phone "Oh my god Dad, HE'S RIGHT THERE!" and jumped up and down like a teenager at a boy band concert and belted lyrics out at the top of my lungs. His smile reminds me of my dad, and his soft flirty winks and waves to the women near me show a profound gentleness that is stunning. He has the aura of an angel, and the way he plays and sings, flawless. He ties bandana after bandana around the neck of his worn and broken guitar, wearing them a short time before sending them into the crowd and then catching ones from the crowd to wear as well. Willie worked everything from the black hat to the purple boa, and blushed when he pocketed the pink panties he picked from the floor. I found myself squeeling, giggling, hand over my mouth in the middle of ballads, shocked that this was something that was actually happening to me. While he may not have played Mendecino County Line for my dad or the family theme song On the Road Again but let me tell you, opening and closing with Whisky River has that song burned into my heart for eternity. My only regret was that my dad wasn't belting out the words right next to me.
Life list folks. 70 of the best dollars I have spent in years.
I also took some of the best pictures of my life. I took about 150, but these are the best of the bunch, and I couldn't even pick 10 to post, so I had to fight with myself over the one...so look at 'em, cause I am really proud of them! I picked this one because of the smile, and every thought back to it makes me grin.

HowWeird St. Fair, May 2007
Sunburnt from my ride yesterday, and hungover from our burn, I still managed to rally and trek myself to SF to participate in this year's event. After blowing off the city 2 weekends in a row, I was not going to miss this chance to be around burner like people and get ideas and be in the sun and take pictures. All wins. It was just a great day, from taking BART and the trek to the blocked off area, to getting the "costume" price and rocking out watching art being painted while I twisted and turned and got lost in the beats. I took so many pictures and actually ran into someone I knew, which was neat considering how full it was getting towards then end, when my feet gave way to blisters and the looming blocks back to the BART station. I stayed for about 2 hours, which was about all I could handle in my condition. It was a solo adventure, and I am really glad I went. I know there is a lot of pictures, but well...it was a neat event.
